|The Rev. Melissa Lynn DeRosia graduated from Alma College and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with awards in the interpretation of scripture and Christian life. Following the completion of a chaplain residency program working with the spiritual needs of child and adolescent psychiatric patients, she received a call to serve as pastor of a congregation in Michigan.Currently, Melissa is the pastor and head of staff at Gates Presbyterian Church. She lives with her husband Matt and two young daughters, Lillian and Norah in nearby Chili. Passionate and dedicated to follow God’s call in the changing landscape of the church, she has served as Moderator of the Presbytery of Lake Huron and as an elected member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly Mission Council. Melissa is co-author of the book “The Girlfriends’ Clergy Companion: Surviving and Thriving in Ministry” published by the Alban Institute in 2011.|
|The Rev. Katie Styrt is a stated supply associate pastor. She grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, where her family still lives. After college at the University of Chicago, Katie spent a year doing mission service though the Young Adult Volunteer program. She received her Masters of Divinity at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. During seminary, Katie also interned at the PC(USA) head offices, where she helped congregations explore how to use their resources fairly. Here in Rochester, she serves part-time at Gates, and part-time as the solo pastor at Laurelton United Presbyterian Church.|
|Adult and Youth Choir Director – Roy Smith|
Roy Smith is a Rochester musician who plays 2nd trumpet in Symphoria (Syracuse, NY) and also performs regularly with the Rochester and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestras. He is on the faculty at Houghton College, the Hochstein School of Music and Lima Christian School. His training was at Roberts Wesleyan College and Northwestern University. Mr. Smith lives in Irondequoit with his wife Julie and their two sons.
